Grove GRT8100 Finds A Niche In Bridge Building

Posted by Weiss Bros on 12th Jan 2018

Each of the model cranes that we have on our website are a little different from one another.  Some of them have longer booms, while others are just an upgrade with a higher capacity.  Either way, regardless of the differences, each crane has a purpose.  For our customers, that purpose is fulfilling a hobby.  For construction companies, each crane's purpose might not be realized until it's on the job site.

There is one construction company that is finding that our right now.  Kriger Construction has found the perfect little place for the Grove GRT8100. The company, based in Pennsylvania loves the build quality and the smooth operation of the 100 ton, rough terrain crane.  In case you were not aware, the GRT8100 is equipped with the Crane Control System from Manitowoc, making it the perfect fit for precise movements while building bridges.

Using the crane for more than 6-months now, Kriger Construction has found the fine, smooth movements of the rough terrain crane a major benefit to the operation.  Right now, the crane is being used to move 18.5 ton precast segments into place.  It was used in 5 bridge operations in 2017 and according to Kriger, all projects went as planned.

Speaking of precast bridge parts, take a look at our precast bridge box girder scale model crane loads ($120) if you would like to add a little something to your crane display.  They are a popular product and sell out fast, so make sure you claim yours today!

The fine adjustments that can be made with the Crane Control System on the GRT8100 allow for the construction team to hit gaps that are as small as 1/8".  A feat that is crucial to the overall efficiency of projects of this kind.
