Manitowoc Reports a Strong 3rd Quarter

Manitowoc Reports a Strong 3rd Quarter

Posted by Weiss Bros on 27th Dec 2017

2017 has been a roller coaster for the Manitowoc crane company in terms of revenue.  One of the most widely known crane companies in the world was struggling with revenue in the first two quarters of 2017, but according to a recent news article, that has changed for the 3rd quarter.

Looking back and comparing to the same quarter of 2016, it appears that orders for these awesome cranes has increased more than $400 million, or more than a 20 percent increase.  Lower demand for the bright red cranes in the Asia-Pacific region is partly to blame for the drone in overall revenue according to the article posted online last month.  Sales from the United States market have been strong and is a main factor in the growth for the company through the third quarter.

According to the President and the CEO of Manitowoc Company, sales in the US energy and construction markets have been larger than expected bringing the overall revenue numbers up through the 3rd quarter of this year.  Even though the company is seeing growth leading into the final quarter of 2017, the forecasts are still looking to be down 5-7 percent.  Overall earnings for the company should land between $59 million to $69 million, according to the company.

Of course, these sales numbers do not include the sales of the die cast model cranes :)  Those numbers are factored into a different report, but is not known to the public.  Manitowoc die cast scale models are hot this year and have been for at the last 10.
